Record Mania – Lionel Messi And His Unconquerable Records

It isn’t every day when you get to see the entire team hoist the goal scorer in the air before the game is complete, such an event did take place yesterday and the celebration was just for the cause. Lionel Messi, who probably can be considered as one of the greatest ever players to adore a jersey and play the game of football, broke yet another record for Barcelona at the Nou Camp. After going behind in goal charts to Ronaldo this season, Messi has regained his Midas touch in recent weeks.

Barcelona faced Sevilla, which many people called as one of their toughest fixtures of the season, they haven’t been doing as well since the El Clasico loss to bitter rivals Real Madrid and recent rumours about Messi’s future at Barca were not helping either.

Messi hasn’t been having the best of times, not only did his Argentina team lose the World Cup Final to Germany, he lost his Ballon d’Or title to rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who seems to be a sure shot to win the title this season as well, the Portuguese has scored 20 goals in 12 appearances in La Liga, all eyes were on Messi and he did not disappoint.

The old Lionel Messi was back to face Sevilla, it was an effortless performance for him to score not one goal but he scored 3 in the process beating Telmo Zarra’s La Liga scoring record of 251 goals. By the end of the night, Messi hadn’t just created history; he showed just how brilliant he actually is.

Messi had just tied another famous record a few weeks back in the UEFA Champions League, he is now tied as the top scorer in the Champions League with the Legendary Raul with 71 goals and he will break that record as well. Messi is still 27 years old and can set the tally higher for all his records, his closest rival in the La Liga scoring charts is Ronaldo who has 197 goals but is 29 years old, another interesting fact is that Messi scored all his goals in La Liga from just 250 starts.
