Real Madrid signing this world-class PL star would help them get the better of Barcelona in the title race next season

Real Madrid opinion: Why Madrid should sign Eriksen?

According to a report from The Sun, Tottenham have demanded Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio in a swap deal for Christian Eriksen.

The Danish midfielder has been a long-time target for the Galacticos, who earlier proposed a swap deal worth £45million plus Dani Ceballos to the North London side.

Eriksen -a key member for Mauricio Pochettino’s side

The Danish international is an integral part of Spurs, who made history by reaching the Champions League finals for the first time last season. The 27-year-old racked up 10 goals and 17 assists in the process and was the Premier League’s third-highest assists provider.

In fact, the former Ajax star’s impact at Spurs ever since he made his switch has been quite remarkable. And his contribution for the Denmark national team also hasn’t gone unnoticed over the years, as he has earned 87 caps since making his debut in 2010.

Absence of goal scoring midfielders  for Madrid

Elsewhere, Los Blancos endured one of their worst possible campaigns in history, with no silverware in the end.

If you break down the season, one of the major takeaways would be the absence of the attacking-minded midfielders. From Julen Lopetegui to Zinedine Zidane, everybody relied on a set of players, who often preferred the central role.

The best examples were Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, who weren’t at their best throughout the season, whereas young players like Dani Ceballos, Federico Valverde, and Isco also didn’t do a lot to force themselves into the equation.

Eriksen is the missing piece for the Galacticos

Having already made a flurry of signings like Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Luca Jovic and Eder Militao, Madrid are only left with an attacking midfielder, given that the Belgium skipper Hazard is expected to play as a winger. And Eriksen’s addition would definitely be the icing on the cake for Zidane’s side.

Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen

As far as the previous season is concerned, the Danish international held a pass success percentage of 80% and averaged 2 key passes per game, a stat that shows how he bridges the gap between the midfield and the attack.

He also takes an average of 2.5 shots per games, making him one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.

His presence on the field could reduce the burden on Kroos and Modric, who are in the twilight of their careers. Furthermore, a partnership with Hazard would be the most worrying thing for the opponents.

Conclusion

While it remains obvious that Madrid are desperate to get back to their winning ways, a smart addition like Eriksen would be a highly significant one. It would help them challenge for the league title and potentially beat Barcelona in the La Liga race.
