Real Madrid Camp Back On Track + Highlights From The Game

Real Madrid pick their second victory in the league after a 0-2 win over Rayo Vallecano. It was a much needed 3 points for Jose Mourinho’s side, who came into the game on the back of a three-match losing streak, having already lost as many games as they did in the whole of last season. The La Liga champions currently lie on 7 th place with 7points on the board.

Karim Benzema opened the account in the 13th-minute. A clinical move started by Di Maria, which was swept home by the Frenchman. And Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty late in the game doubled the advantage for the away side. However, Madrid had to survive a wave of attacking threat from the home side. A double save by Casillas kept out the header from Andrija Delibasic and Xabi Alonso’s clearance off the line made sure Madrid kept a clean sheet.

New signing Luka Modric started the game and had a decent game before he was substituted. Rayo had lost their last eight matches against with Madrid, their last victory arriving 15 years ago. Madrid boss Mourinho was relieved after seeing his side cross the line with the maximum points.

“It was not an easy situation for us, but it was not easy for them too,” Mourinho said after the game. You come with the mentality to play, wait but are then forced to wait and wait for confirmation, and you don’t play. It was a tough game, but our team responded well,” he said. Could we have played better? Yes, but I can point my critics to our attitude and the way my team get the job done, and and today Real Madrid were a team. I guess if we would have played with this attitude at Getafe and Sevilla, we would have won those two games.”
