Real Madrid arrive in Los Angeles

Real Madrid arrive in Los Angeles today ahead of Thursday’s friendly with the LA Galaxy. Led by head coach Jose Mourinho, the reigning La Liga champions will face the MLS football side Galaxy at The Home Depot Center on Thursday, August 2.

This is the third consecutive season that Mourinho and Real Madrid will be training in Southern California and face the Galaxy. The two sides played in front of more than 89,000 fans at the Rose Bowl in 2010 with the Galaxy jumping out to a 2-0 halftime lead, only to fall 3-2. Last season, more than 56,000 fans were at the L.A. Coliseum to see Madrid beat the Galaxy 4-1. The Galaxy first played Real Madrid in 2005, meeting in front of a capacity crowd at The Home Depot Center in a game that featured the Southern California debut of David Beckham with Madrid.

This year’s meeting between the two sides, which will be played on Thursday, August 2 at The Home Depot Center, is one of the most anticipated international friendlies of the year.
