Reading completing a permanent move for this impactful 27-year-old is an absolute no-brainer – opinion

Reading opinion: Reading should sign Nelson Oliveira permanently

The Birmingham Live (h/t Eastern Daily Press) has reported that Reading are keen on making a move for Nelson Oliveira in the summer.

The striker joined the club in the winter window on loan and has made an impressive impact since his move. While he is contracted to Norwich City, the Canaries could lose him in the summer.

As revealed, Reading are very keen on making a move and the Eastern Daily Press has reported that the club have an option to buy the 27-year-old. This is a move that they need to make in the near future, especially if Reading have any plans of fighting in the top half of the table.

At the moment, the Biscuitmen sit in 19th place, which is not a place for any club to be. While it isn’t the relegation zone, Reading are only four points off 22nd-placed Rotherham at the moment.

Their main issue this season has been a severe lack of goals this season, with Yakou Meite being their top scorer with seven.

Their second top scorer is Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, who has six and Sam Baldock rounds off the top three with 5. The fact that Nelson Oliveira already has three in just six games for the club simply shows why they need to make a permanent move for the player.

Easily a much better forward as compared to the three the club have at their disposal, Oliveira has a rather impressive strike rate of a goal every two games.

While he isn’t the fastest striker in the world, the Spaniard makes up for it in other areas.

His strength and aggression are big parts of his game but it’s the 27-year old’s positioning that makes him a massive asset. Nelson Oliveira has always been a consistent finisher, averaging 7 to 8 goals a season.

However, the fact that he hasn’t played in the last four games and the fact that Reading have won only two games in the process shows just how important the Spaniard has been.

While Nelson Oliveira isn’t the best striker in the world, for Reading, he is the best option they can get.

The 27-year-old is an experienced and a quality front-man and someone who goes above and beyond for the club. That’s a feature that Reading need, especially if the club are to move up the ladder.
