The current BBC radio commentator seems to have been impressed by the English winger’s performances at Ibrox this season.

Kent, who is currently on loan from Liverpool, has been a revelation for the Light Blues this season, bagging 6 goals and 4 assist across all competitions.

However, his loan spell is due to expire later this season and he is expected to make a return to Anfield.

Like the Gers fans and Gerrard,  Kent expressed his desire to stay in Glasgow, regardless of Jurgen Klopp plans for the winger next season.

Whelan said, (h/t Football Insider)

Stevie will be trying his hardest to sign him,” “He is one player who can be the difference maker for Rangers.

He further added that offloading Alfredo Morelos would help the Gers to seal a deal for the English winger.

“I know £7million is an awful lot for Rangers, but they could sell [Alfredo] Morelos and then easily afford him, as well as a few other signings. He’ll be worth double that in a few years.”

Kent, 22, scored two goals in both the Old Firm derbies this season, with one ending up being the winner for the Gers.

The English winger will soon make his return to the side after getting a two-match ban for violent conduct against Scott Brown in the derby last month.
