The Croat scored his maiden goal for his country in the game against Azerbaijan. The left-back went on to receive plaudits for his wonderful performance following the win.

The world cup finalists suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of the Hungarians last night.

In the process, the Gers left-back picked up an injury which forced him off the field in the first half.

With no particular update on the extension of the injury, the Lights Blues fear that he could miss the Sunday’s vital Old Firm derby.

A youth product of his country club Osijek, the 26-year-old moved to Ibrox last year after penning a four-year deal.

Barisic has made 15 appearances in Premiership this season and provided two assists.

Steven Gerrard is currently undergoing a tough phase as his side couldn’t yield any victories in the last four games.

Moreover, the title hopes of the Light Blues are looking bleak as they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup scenario.

Furthermore, their arch-rivals Celtic have established a strong ten point lead in the Premiership table with only three matches left to be played.

The Light Blues will be travelling to Celtic Park this Sunday for the derby.
