The Hammers will be relatively happy with the points they managed to take from their trip to Old Trafford this weekend in the Premier League. However, they will not leave Manchester yet as they will yet again face the Red Devils at the Old Trafford, this time in the League Cup. Both teams won local derbies in the previous round of the competition to set up this crunch game and with the Cup relatively important for both managers, they are expected to field strong sides for this game. Slaven Bilic’s squad has been hit by injuries early this season but the squad is easing up and providing the manager with more options.

Here is the strongest lineup that Slaven Bilic might field for this League Cup quarter-final:

Team News:

The manager will still be without the services of Sam Byram, Andy Carroll and Reece Oxford all of whom are nursing separate injuries. Diafra Sakho, who scored at the weekend picked up a calf problem and will not be risked for this game against United.

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Darren Randolph:

Having got the nod ahead of Adrian at the weekend, Randolph impressed already at the Old Trafford and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Cheikhou Kouyate:

One of the most consistent defenders for the Hammers this season, Kouyate will keep his place in the side in a similar system on the night.

James Collins:

Putting in a decent performance against Manchester United already, Collins should start this game at the heart of the defense for the Hammers.

Angelo Ogbonna:

The Italian centre-half has been exceptional for the Hammers this season and he should keep his place on the left-side of the back-three for West Ham.

Michail Antonio:

The versatile footballer has been a blessing for Slaven Bilic this season and he should start this game as a wing back at Old Trafford.

Pedro Obiang:

Another midfielder who has been decent but not consistent for the Hammers, Obiang was also impressive at the weekend and should keep his place in the side for this game.

Manuel Lanzini:

The attacking midfielder was a constant nuisance in front of goal for Manchester United and he will hope to put in a similar performance in this League Cup quarter-final.

Aaron Cresswell:

Adjusting well to a wing-back position, Cresswell has put in the hard yards for the side recently and should start this game against Manchester United.

Andre Ayew:

Coming back from injury, the former Swansea man has not been able to have an impact on the squad yet but this might be the perfect game for him to announce himself at his new club.

Dimitri Payet:

The French international has been the best player for the Hammers this season and he should start this game and be at his best if the Hammers are to have a chance of moving into the next round.

Simone Zaza:

The former Juventus was dropped in the weekend’s game and he will get his chance to lead the attack for the side for this League Cup encounter.
