Rakitic Out, Paulinho In – Strongest 4-3-3 Barcelona Line-up To Face Olympiacos In The Champions League

Predicted Barcelona Line-up To Face Olympiacos In The Champions League

Champions League action returns once again this week as Barcelona face Greek side Olympiacos F.C away at the Karaiskakis Stadium. Barcelona’s winning streak was halted by Atletico Madrid last weekend in a 1-1 draw at the Wanda Metropolitano. Luis Suarez provided a saving grace with an 81st minute header past Jan Oblak to make sure the Catalans retained the top spot with a 5-point lead over arch rivals, Real Madrid.

Let’s have a look at how the Catalan side may line up against Olympiakos

Manager: Ernesto Valverde

Formation: 4-3-3

GK: Marc Andre ter Stegen

The German keeper couldn’t do much to stop Saul’s wonder strike but he has been phenomenal so far this season.

RB: Sergi Roberto

Sergi came on as a second half substitute in the match against Atletico and delivered the cross from which Suarez scored.

CB: Gerard Pique

Pique has been slow on the ball this season but he was pretty good against Atletico. He is expected to start this one.

CB: Samuel Umtiti

The Big Sam had another sensational outing in a Barcelona shirt. He seems like a real successor to Carles Puyol.

Gerard Pique

LB: Jordi Alba

The Spaniard has been playing well lately and he is expected to keep his place ahead of Lucas Digne.

DM: Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets had a good game against Atletico Madrid and is such an essential key to the Barcelona midfield.

CM: Paulinho

The Brazilian signing was also used as a second half substitute against Ateltico and he might start against Olympiacos ahead of Ivan Rakitic.

CAM: Andres Iniesta

Iniesta recently committed to Barcelona on a lifetime contract, the first of it’s kind in the history of the club. He should start this game as his experience will come in handy against a tricky opposition.

RW: Gerard Deulofeu

Deulofeu looked very sharp after coming on as a substitute against Atletico Madrid and created a lot of chances as well. He’s expected to start in the frontline in the absence of Dembele.

CF: Lionel Messi

Messi’s glorious scoring streak came to a halt, as he was denied twice by the woodwork against Atletico. However, given the form he is in, you’d expect him to score against Olympiacos.

LW: Luis Suarez

Suarez looked closer to his usual best and scored the leveller against Atletico. He is almost certain to get to start this game.
