Match report and Manchester City twitter reactions vs Everton
Defending champions Manchester City returned to winning ways in the league with a rather comfortable 3-1 win over Everton at the Etihad. Gabriel Jesus scored a brace and Raheem Sterling scored with his first touch of the game after coming on as a substitute.
The Cityzens took the lead half-way through the first half when the away team gave the ball away and Ilkay Gundogan pounced on the aimless ball by Yerry Mina. The German then found the run of Leroy Sane, who teed up Jesus to slot it past Jordan Pickford.
The home team doubled the lead five minutes into the second half when the assist-goal combination was at it again. This time Sane played in a lovely cross for Jesus to powerfully head home his second of the game.
Everton had an interest when Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulled one back with 25 minutes still remaining in the game. But Pep Guardiola’s men responded like champions and Sterling scored with his first touch after coming as a substitute.
On paper, it looks like a breeze through for City but this was far from it. The Toffees had enough chances in this game to at least get a point. Richarlison missed a chance in both halves and Theo Walcott missed a good opportunity to score.
The home side did deserve the win but Marco Silva should be disappointed with the way his forward men didn’t produce the goods when it was most needed.
As a result, we see Manchester City go on top of the league once again, however, Liverpool might have a say when they play Manchester United tomorrow.
Here’s how the City fans reacted to this game on social media:

Good win and recovery from last game + another 3 points bagged. Need to work out the kinks as there were some suspect defending today! Complacency is the key word to look out for!
