Predicted Preston North End Lineup To Face Nottingham Forest

Away games for Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich, and Fulham could mean that the in-form Preston can take a step closer to the Championship play-off places this weekend with a victory over Nottingham Forest if the other 3 teams manage to drop points.

Simon Grayson, so unusually at this time of year, has a fully fit squad to choose from and will be able to call upon some of this league’s best pound-for-pound players. Grayson has proven versatile this season and has used several formations. However, he will want to put in all of his best players on the pitch and so Vermijl, Browne and Robinson could return to the lineup.

Formation: 4-4-2

GK – Chris Maxwell

Maxwell has made 30 appearances already this season and has been a rock at the back for Preston. A sure starter.

RB – Marnick Vermijl

With 2 goals to his name this season, the Belgian could prove an important outlet going forward on Saturday. He has been wonderful for Preston, playing at the back.

CB – Tom Clarke

The 29-year-old has been truly outstanding this season and is one of the first names on the team sheet. The skipper is another sure starter for Preston.

CB – Paul Huntington
The experienced former Newcastle and Leeds man will make his 26th appearance in all competitions when he starts for Preston against Forest.

LB – Greg Cunningham
A 40th game of the season beckons for the left-back and with 1 goal and 5 assists to his name he can prove to be another important attacking facet of his team.

RM – Daryl Horgan

Horgan only joined the club in January from Dundalk but has already made 12 appearances for the club, scoring twice.  With the help of Vermijl down the right, he can cause the Forest defence some major problems.

CM – Alan Browne

One of the better young players in the whole division, the Irishman hasn’t managed to score a goal yet but his defensive midfield displays have been excellent and he should get the chance to prove his worth once again.

CM – Daniel Johnson

He is more attack-minded than Brown and this brings balance to the midfield. Johnson already has 4 goals and 4 assists in 34 Championship matches and will be important for Preston.

LM – Aiden McGeady

The 30-year-old still possesses tons of quality and cutting in from the left, he can create space for a marauding Greg Cunningham. He also poses a huge threat to the Forest goal. McGeady already has 5 goals and a huge 8 assists in the league so far.

LS – Callum Robinson

In an offensive line-up, Robinson can prove to be a great support for Hugill up front. Playing on the left and up front this year, he has already managed 8 goals in the league and could add to the tally this weekend.

RS – Jordan Hugill

Hugill’s 10 goals in 37 games is an impressive total for a young man and he will hope to be allowed the chance to add to this and ruin Mark Warburton’s start as Nottingham Forest manager.
