Arsenal – 3rd
It is the 20th season at Arsenal for manager Arsene Wenger, and he will be hoping that he can mark it with a long-awaited Premier League trophy. They have also quietly impressed this year, after signing players in much-needed positions with defender Mustafi and midfielder Xhaka. This has given them some needed defensive stability, allowing their attacking players to win them games.
Besides that, others have also started the season in a great form such as Theo Walcott. Traditionally, the turn of the year is where Arsenal normally falter and injuries start to impact their season, so should Arsene Wenger find this consistency they will be right up there again.
Liverpool – 4th
Liverpool’s attack is looking such a threat currently. Mane, Firmino, Lallana and Coutinho are blowing teams away with their quick incisive passings. Along with Manchester City they have scored the highest number of goals so far with 20. However it really is the goals for/against column that shows their weakness. Their defence isn’t settled yet, and due to their lack of height they are incredibly vulnerable to set pieces. It has probably come just one season too early for Klopp, but I don’t expect them to go down without a fight. And it may get interesting if he is able to bring in some defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window – particularly in goal and at left back.
