Sanchez? Hazard? Here Are The Players Who Make It To The Premier League Team Of The Season 2016/17

The Premier League this season, like every other, has been an exciting affair with three matches on the last day of the league carrying a weight in the design of the points table. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been above the rest of the teams in the division while Sunderland, Hull City and Middlesbrough could not avoid the drop.

There were a number of top class performances all around but very few players have been able to show consistency throughout the campaign. Here is the Team of the Year for the 2016/17 Premier League season:

Premier League Team Of The Season

Formation (3-4-3)

David de Gea (Manchester United)

Though Thibaut Courtois ran away with the golden glove, De Gea has been a man mountain in goal for Manchester United this season and deserves a place in this lineup.

Virgil van Dijk (Southampton)

Though he missed the last couple of months of the season, the Dutch international had enough influence on the league to be a part of this team.

Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Belgian has been a solid presence at the back for Spurs this season, helping his side stand as one of the best defences in the top flight of English football.

David Luiz (Chelsea)

The Brazilian helped Chelsea to their 6th title in his first year back at the club and played a major role at the heart of the Chelsea defence for the whole season.

Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur)

An in-demand star this transfer window, Walker has been one of the most productive defenders in the league and features as a right wing-back in this lineup.

N’Golo Kante (Chelsea)

The PFA player of the year, Kante was the midfield engine that pushed Chelsea to the title as he covered more distance than any other Chelsea player in a productive season for his side.

Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)

The English youngster stepped up his game mid-way through the season and has been one of the best players in the league with some tremendous numbers to show for.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

With the lack of quality in the league at left-back, Chelsea’s Italian wing-back Alonso finds a place in the Team of the Year in what was his first season in England.

Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

The versatile Chilean has contributed to more goals than any other player in the league this season and is one of the first names in a lineup like this.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

The Belgian’s creativity and industry were the major reason behind Chelsea strolling to a title win and it is a certainty that he is included here.

Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Golden Boot winner for the season, Kane beats the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to act as a striker for this XI.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho, Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, Swansea’s Gylifi Sigurdsson and Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford deserve special mentions.
