Premier League Marathon XI Features Manchester United & Liverpool Stars

The English Premier League is one of the toughest leagues to play in, not only does it have tough tackling and hard hitting teams, the sheer number of games being played without a Christmas or Winter break is a big factor which makes the league something of a hard nut to crack, especially for foreign players.

What everyone also appreciates in England is a player who is willing to run around and give his all for his club, sure you may not be the best player in the team in terms of ability but give 100% on the pitch, every time you put on the jersey and you will become a fan favourite, even if you make a couple of mistakes along the way.

Here we have a Premier League XI of runners, players who will run their socks off for their clubs, this is based on the total distance covered last season, so you may find a couple of surprising names here.

Defence:

GK: David De Gea

Well goalkeepers don’t really run around much so we had to make do with a goalkeeper who is working hard to not only keep his team in games but help them win games. David De Gea has been in form this season and even last night against Stoke City, it was De Gea who won Manchester United the points.

DEF: Steven Caulker

The now QPR defender was in the list of players who covered the most distance last year, Caulker isn’t the best defender in the league but he certainly is a willing runner having covered 338 km last season.

DEF: Ryan Shawcross

The Stoke City hard man, rugby tackler and sometimes defender might raise a few eyebrows by being on the list but Ryan was one of the top distance coverers and covered 330 km last season for Stoke City, not only can he tackle, he can run as well.

DEF: Jake Livermore

Probably a surprising player on the list Livermore was on loan at Hull City last season and was able to make his loan move to Hull permanent this season. He plays mostly as a midfielder but can play as a defender and well with his running about, he surely deserves to be in the team.

DEF: Seamus Coleman

The 26 year old who plays at right back for Everton is a willing runner and can be seen bombarding the right wing for Everton. The English defender covered 325 kms last season and led his Everton in that stat.
