Predicting Manchester United’s Starting Line Up, If They Sign This Bundesliga Hitman

Jose Mourinho might have gotten a defender into the team by signing Eric Bailly but he could be turning to the attack to strengthen the side even more. Manchester United might have Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Wayne Rooney, but the trio didn’t have a great season, well apart from Martial that is.

The Red Devils are apparently in for one of the top strikers in the world of football. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had an incredible season for Borussia Dortmund as he bagged 39 goals from 46 games in all competitions.

United might be able to pry him away from Germany for the right amount and we look at just how the side could look like if the Gabon striker does sign for the Premier League side.

A mouth-watering attack at United

There can only be one goalkeeper who would start at Manchester United and that would be David de Gea, unless of course he does move away from the club since he doesn’t really like Mourinho all that much.

Apart from that, the four defenders would be led by Manchester United’s new signing, Eric Bailly in the heart of the defence. He should be partnered by Chris Smalling as the English defender was the best in his role for Manchester United all season last time around.

Luke Shaw should make a return to the first team at the start of next season and it could be Daley Blind who gets shifted to the right-back slot for the Old Trafford club. The midfield pairing would probably be that of Ander Herrera and Morgan Schneiderlin, even though both players did not have the greatest of seasons with the Red Devils, they could still turn things around under the tutelage of Mourinho.

Wayne Rooney will play under Mourinho, that is a given, but where will he exactly lineup? He has done pretty well just behind the strikers and that should be where he does start under Mourinho. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with his pace and finishing would be a great option to have up top and he would be ably supported by the likes of Anthony Martial on one side and Memphis Depay on the other.

Many would suggest that Marcus Rashford should be in the team, but he is not a winger and playing him as the main striker would mean having to play the Gabon star in a role he would not be comfortable with.

It will be interesting to see if United do actually sign Aubameyang but if they do, Mourinho could be leading them to the title next season for sure.
