Predicted Rangers Lineup To Face Hearts In Scottish Premiership

Rangers will look to continue their recent run of performances, when they take on Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, at the Ibrox Stadium on Sunday.

Graeme Murty’s side recorded two big victories over the last two weeks, having beaten Ayr United 6-1 in the cup before defeating Hamilton Academical 5-3 this past weekend. They find themselves in the second place in the league table and will be keen on holding on to that position while also attempting to reduce the gap between themselves and leaders Celtic.

Team News

Bruno Alves is available after recovering from a calf problem. Lee Wallace has returned to full training after groin surgery but will have to continue building up his fitness before playing again. Ryan Jack (knee), Graham Dorrans (ankle) and Ross McCrorie (foot) remain out while Jordan Rossiter suffered an ankle injury on his comeback trail. Midfielder Jason Holt, who was suspended for the win over Hamilton, will return to contention.

Probable Rangers XI

Manager: Graeme Murty

Formation: 4-4-2

Wes Foderingham (GK)

A permanent fixture between the sticks, Englishman Wes Foderingham will take the field for Rangers at the Ibrox this weekend.

James Tavernier (RB)

The defender has been one of the Gers’ best players this term and is an ever-present in the starting XI, at right-back. Unlikely to change.

David Bates (CB)

Did not look all that convincing against the Accies this past weekend and will be hoping to put on a better showing at home on Saturday.

James Tavernier

Russell Martin (CB)

The Norwich City loanee too had a bad game last time out and will be keen on improving against the Hearts in the upcoming fixture.

Declan John (LB)

The former Cardiff City man is a key attacking outlet for the Light Blues with his forward forays down the left-hand side. A definite starter at left-back.

Jamie Murphy (RW)

The winger was one of the scorers for Rangers this past weekend and will be hoping to build on that performance against the Hearts.

Jason Holt (CM)

Having returned from suspension, the 25-year-old midfielder could come into the starting XI in place of January signing Greg Docherty.

Sean Goss (CM)

The former Manchester United academy man has established himself as a regular starter for the Gers since his winter transfer window move. Should retain his place in the lineup.

Josh Windass

Josh Windass (LW)

The Gers’ hero from the win over Hamilton, Windass grabbed a hat-trick, taking his tally to 14 goals for the season. A sure starter.

Jason Cummings (ST)

The striker did not feature from the get-go this past weekend but should be in line for a starting berth for Saturday’s clash against Hearts.

Alfredo Morelos (ST)

Partnering Cummings up top should be young Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos. The 21-year-old scored his 16th goal of the season, against the Accies, and will want to add more to his tally.
