Predicted Liverpool Lineup To Face Sunderland: Joe Allen To Start In The Middle

Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs Sunderland

Liverpool will face Sunderland at Anfield on Saturday, hoping to get their top four push back on track. Relegation scare is looming large on the Black Cats as they are currently in the drop zone with 19 points from 24 appearances. Allardyce has made defensive reinforcements by bringing on Lamine Kone from Lorient and Jan Kirchhoff from Bayern Munich in January transfer window. Liverpool have underperformed throughout this campaign after a promising start under Brendan Rodgers. New manager Jurgen Klopp has shown glimpses of what he can achieve but injuries and inconsistency have troubled the side since his arrival.

Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet

Mignolet would have been disappointed after conceding two goals against Leicester on Tuesday, one of which was a wonder strike from Jamie Vardy. But he is still the number one keeper in the side and will continue to between the sticks against Sunderland.

Defenders: Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho, Nathaniel Clyne and Alberto Moreno

Lovren returned to the first team action against Leicester and showed no ill-effects, hence is set to partner Sakho in the centre of the backline. Klopp will tend to stick to the same back four that started against Leicester on Tuesday night. This means Moreno starts on the left, even though he has been criticized recently for his lackluster performances. Clyne will keep his place on the right side. He has been very consistent this season and deserves his place in the side.

Midfielders: Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Jordon Ibe and Adam Lallana

Joe Allen looks to be in some sort of form, hence will push Lucas Leiva out of the starting eleven while Can and Henderson will retain their place in the team. The good news for Klopp this week is that some of his stars like Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Philippe Coutinho will return to full first team training this week but this match might come to early for the trio, although they might make the bench. Therefore, Ibe will come into the team While Lallana should also keep his place in the starting eleven.

Striker: Roberto Firmino

Benteke has seriously struggled this season and especially after the arrival on Klopp to Anfield.  Firmino should continue to lead the line ahead of the big Belgian.
