Potential Leeds United Lineup With Mateusz Klich In The Team
Leeds United have now confirmed the signing of Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich from FC Twente of the Netherlands. It’s difficult at this stage to say exactly how Leeds will line-up come August with many more ins and outs expected, plus with a new manager at the helm. As it stands though, this would be the most likely starting XI should the Championship season start tomorrow.
Formation: 4-4-2
GK – Robert Green
The former England ‘keeper had his moments once again last season but retains plenty of ability and to be fair, his experience could yet be crucial.
RB – Luke Ayling
The former Bristol City man is solid at right-back and as a 25-year-old he still has plenty more improvement left in him.
CB – Pontus Jansson
This fella is undoubtedly a Premier League player and it is somewhat surprising that some top division teams did not come in for him after the end of last season. That’s a major plus for Leeds though and he will be vital if they are to gain promotion.
CB – Liam Cooper
The left-footed centre-back has a big future in the game and the penny seemed to drop with him towards the end of last season. He’ll learn from his mistakes too, such as the lengthy ban he received which made him miss the end of the campaign, and we’ll see another potential Premier League player in Leeds’ back line.
LB – Gaetano Berardi
The Swiss filled in at left-back numerous times last term, and if no replacement for Charlie Taylor is signed, then he will find himself in this position again.
RW – Hadi Sacko
With a permanent deal now agreed, Sacko can continue his development as a winger.
CM – Ronaldo Vieira
The young holding midfield player is an absolute rock in the Leeds line-up already and will truly be one to watch out for this season. Big international future beckons.
CM – Mateusz Klich
The new boy is a welcome addition to the Elland Road set-up but being that it’s likely he’ll play in a central role, it remains to be seen what this means for the classy Pablo Hernandez.
LW – Kemar Roofe
Comfortable on the other side as well, Roofe has a big future and may be employed on this side, cutting in on his right foot when the opportunity arises.
SS – Alfonso Pedraza
The winger had an excellent goal scoring record in Spain and may well be employed more centrally next to Chris Wood, though he could just as easily swap with Roofe.
ST – Chris Wood
A stalwart now for Leeds and it is crucial that they keep hold of the big centre-forward.
