Chris Wood And Samu Saiz To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Leeds Lineup For The Game Against Sunderland

Predicted Leeds United Lineup To Face Sunderland In EFL Championship

Leeds came into this season with full of hope while Sunderland were all doom and gloom. However, after two disappointing results at Elland Road, the Whites head to a rejuvenated Stadium of Light and will find it tough against this Sunderland side.

Thomas Christiansen has employed a 4-2-3-1 formation from the off and will probably stick to that here, though this time around, the young Kemar Roofe may be given the chance to play next to Samu Saiz in support of Chris Wood up front.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

GK – Felix Wiedwald

His signing caused a slight stir, with some fans backing Rob Green for the position. But the German is solid enough and should get another go here.

RB – Luke Ayling

The right-back for my money played to a very similar standard to Charlie Taylor on the other side last season but he lacks the same reputation. He has stayed loyal and will continue here.

CB – Pontus Jansson

Back in the team now and along with Wood, looks to be well ahead of the average players in this division.

Pontus Jansson of Leeds United.

CB – Conor Shaughnessy

Other than Jansson, there has been great confusion as to who will play in the Leeds back line. But for now, the Irishman gets the call.

LB – Vurnon Anita

Brought in from Newcastle, partly for his versatility, it is no surprise to see Vurn fill in here and he can carry on at left-back.

CM – Eunan O’Kane

Another Irishman in the line-up, O’Kane did alright last time and may well get the call again, with the likes of Bridcutt on the bench.

CM – Kalvin Phillips

Made a great start to the season at Bolton Wanderers, scoring twice, and will get forward well from his deep-lying midfield position.

Kemar Roofe

RW – Kemar Roofe

Came off the bench last time and with Leeds looking increasingly desperate to change the pattern of things, he may get a start this time in the place of Alioski.

CAM – Samu Saiz

Scored a hat-trick in the League Cup and may well be quite a find. Another chance to impress here, against recent Premier League opposition in a big stadium.

LW – Pablo Hernandez

The classy Spaniard will always find a way of creating chances for his team. So as long as Sunderland leave him alone, he will be dangerous.

ST – Chris Wood

What would they do without him and Jansson? Wood is by far the best striker at this club and will have to be marked by the opposition so carefully on the day.

Here’s how Leeds United may take the field:
