Calvert-Lewin And Niasse To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Everton Line-up To Face Brighton On Sunday

Predicted Everton Line-up To Face Brighton & Hove Albion In The Premier League

Everton will be hoping to revive their faltering Premier League campaign when they travel to the AmEx Stadium, to take on Brighton & Hove Albion, on Sunday.

The Toffees have had a disastrous start to the new season and they find themselves struggling at 16th place in the league standings, with just 7 points after 7 games so far. In their previous league encounter before the international break, Ronald Koeman’s side were handed a 1-0 defeat by Burnley at home and the manager finds himself under serious pressure to turn things around against the Seagulls.

Team News

Phil Jagielka is a slight doubt for the game due to a hamstring problem. There are no other fresh injury concerns for the Merseysiders, with Ross Barkley (Hamstring), Yannick Bolasie (ACL Knee), Seamus Coleman (Broken Leg), James McCarthy (Knee) and Ramiro Funes Mori (Knee) all being absent.

Here’s how the Toffees might take the field against Chris Hughton’s men on Sunday:

Manager: Ronald Koeman

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Jordan Pickford (GK)

The former Sunderland man has been the preferred first-choice in goal for Everton since his arrival in the summer. That is unlikely to change on Sunday.

Mason Holgate (RB)

Koeman has looked to use Cuco Martina at right-back but given the former Southampton man’s underwhelming displays, he might hand Mason Holgate a start against the Seagulls.

Michael Keane

Michael Keane (CB)

The summer signing hasn’t been able to reproduce last season’s form that saw him finish as one of the most impressive centre-backs. Will be keen on getting into the groove for his new club.

Ashley Williams (CB)

The experienced Welshman has been sloppy at times this season and has looked error-prone on a number of occasions. Will be hoping to get things right against Brighton.

Leighton Baines (LB)

An ever-present in the Everton line-up, the veteran English defender will start in the left-back position on Sunday.

Morgan Schneiderlin (CM)

One of the manager’s most trusted lieutenants, Schneiderlin continues to feature in the midfield despite some unconvincing displays. That is not likely to change this weekend.

Idrissa Gueye

Idrissa Gueye (CM)

The Senegalese midfielder offers the legs and the drive in the middle of the park for the Toffees. Should partner the Frenchman as the second pivot.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (RW)

The 20-year old Englishman has been one of the rare bright sparks for Everton in the attacking third this season. Will line up on the right flank against the Seagulls.

Nikola Vlasic (CAM)

The only summer signing who can claim to have made some sort of impact, the young Croatian will most likely keep his place in the starting XI, as the No.10.

Oumar Niasse

Gylfi Sigurdsson (LW)

The club-record signing has failed to live up to the lofty expectations that were placed upon him following his big money move. Will want to put in a strong display.

Oumar Niasse (ST)

The Senegalese striker has been the unlikeliest of the sources of goals for the Toffees, having been cast aside by the manager at one point. Having scored two in two league games, Niasse might get the nod ahead of Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez.
