Predicted Everton Line-up Fitting In This Experienced German International As Koeman Looks For A Striker

How Everton Would Line Up With Max Kruse In The Team

Ronald Koeman is aware that his Everton side needs some attacking additions next season if they are to challenge the best in the Europa League and also for a place in the Champions League. The Merseyside club looks set to lose Romelu Lukaku this summer as the Belgian international has not yet signed a contract extension with the Merseysiders.

The former Chelsea hitman was in great form for the Goodison Park outfit but even if they manage to fend off interests and hold on to him, they will need an able backup for him, which they failed to find last season.

According to German news outfit Sport Bild, Koeman is now targeting Werder Bremen’s in-form goal scorer Max Kruse for a move this summer. The 29-year old German international is also wanted by Manchester United but Everton are reportedly leading the race to land the striker who is valued at just over £10m. So how will Koeman line up his side with Kruse?

The 29-year old is a rare breed of strikers who love to feed off the main man. He loves to play on the shoulder of the last defender and allowing the main striker and the midfielders to find space in dangerous areas. He is a smart customer, strong in the air and his attributes are perfect for the English style of play.

He is a superb finisher and if Everton can keep Lukaku and play Kruse in a withdrawn role, the defence lines in England will be cringing. Ross Barkley may yet quit the club but if he decides to stay, he and Kevin Mirallas can hog the wings. Koeman may also look into the transfer market to increase his options on the flanks.

Lukaku does not have a proper replacement in the squad at the moment. Ademola Lookman is still too young while Enner Valencia might not be at the club next season. If the Belgian star leaves, they may have to look elsewhere to replace him, as Kruse is not capable of providing such returns.

However, they might not need to spend insanely on his replacement and can find a potential star to team him up with Kruse, allowing them to form a potent partnership up front. Lukaku and Kruse is a tempting front line but Everton need to be prepared to replace Lukaku even if they are able to lure Kruse.
