Griffiths To Lead The Line – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Celtic Line-up To Face Motherwell On Saturday

Predicted Celtic Line-up To Face Motherwell In The Scottish Premiership

Celtic will look to extend their unbeaten run in domestic games when they face off against Motherwell for the third time in a week, at the Celtic Park on Saturday.

The Bhoys took their historic unbeaten run in domestic competitions to 66 games following their 1-1 draw against the Steelmen on Wednesday night in the Scottish Premiership. Brendan Rodgers will be hoping that his side put a better display than what they did during the midweek and take all three points from the game. Celtic are on top of the pile in the Premiership with 34 points from 14 games, four ahead of second-placed Aberdeen, that too with a game in hand.

Team News

Winger Patrick Roberts has been ruled out of the game after picking up an injury just 11 minutes into the previous match between the two sides on Wednesday. Elsewhere, Anthony Ralston is still out with a knee injury and star striker Moussa Dembele is also sidelined, while Nir Bitton too remains a doubt.

Here’s how the Bhoys might line up on Saturday:

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Craig Gordon (GK)

The veteran Scottish shot-stopper should start once again between the sticks for the reigning Scottish champions.

Mikael Lustig (RB)

Having scored an own goal in the midweek game, the Swedish right-back will look to bounce back with a strong showing.

Jozo Simunovic (CB)

The Bosnian centre-half is likely to continue in the heart of the defence for the Hoops against Motherwell on Saturday.

Dedryck Boyata (CB)

Partnering Simunovic at the back should be former Manchester City man Dedryck Boyata. Will have to deal with the threat of Louis Moult.

Kieran Tierney (LB)

The 20-year old left-back is one of the first names on the teamsheet for Rodgers. A definite starter in the weekend game.

Scott Brown (CM)

In the middle of the park, club captain Scott Brown should once again feature from the get-go. Will look to exert his influence in the midfield and help his team dominate the game.

Olivier Ntcham (CM)

The French midfielder could return the starting XI for the weekend’s encounter, with Stuart Armstrong expected to make way.

James Forrest (RW)

With Patrick Roberts picking up an injury, James Forrest is likely to return to the starting line-up for the Bhoys on Saturday.

Tom Rogic (CAM)

The Australian attacking midfielder might get a run out from the kick off in the No.10 role, ahead of Callum McGregor.

Scott Sinclair (LW)

Celtic’s saviour in the midweek, Sinclair scored the leveller from the penalty spot, coming on from the bench. Should get the nod for a start.

Leigh Griffiths (ST)

With Moussa Dembele ruled out, Scottish international Leigh Griffiths should lead the attack once again for the Bhoys.
