Predicted Barcelona Lineup To Face Deportivo Alaves In The La Liga

Barcelona will travel to the Mendizorrotza Stadium, to take on Deportivo Alaves, on Saturday, in the second match-week of the La Liga.

The Catalan outfit is going through some really turbulent times coming into the season, following their sale of Neymar to PSG and not being able to bring in a replacement yet. There is some serious unrest among the fans.

Amidst all this, new boss Ernesto Valverde did manage to lead the club to a 2-0 win in their season opener against Real Betis and will be hoping that his team get three points against last season’s Copa Del Rey finalists.

Team News

Striker Luis Suarez still remains unavailable for selection due to a knee injury, while defender Gerard Pique is fit and ready to play. Versatile midfielder Rafinha too is back in training, along with captain Andres Iniesta.

Manager: Ernesto Valverde

Formation: 4-3-3

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (GK)

The German international will continue to man the goal for the Blaugrana ahead of former Ajax shot-stopper Jasper Cillessen.

Nelson Semedo (RB)

The summer signing enjoyed a starring debut in the La Liga against Betis, and should hold on to his place ahead of Aleix Vidal at right-back.

Nelson Semedo

Javier Mascherano (CB)

The veteran too was impressive in the season opener at Camp Nou and Valverde might look to start him again, despite Pique being available.

Samuel Umtiti (CB)

The Frenchman has grown immensely in stature since his move to Barcelona last summer window. A constant fixture in their backline.

Jordi Alba (LB)

After a mediocre campaign last time around, the Spaniard has started the new season strongly and should continue to feature at left-back, ahead of Lucas Digne.

Ivan Rakitic (CM)

The Croatian is yet to hit his strides this season, but he remains a vital player for the Catalans and the manager will be hoping that he gets going soon.

Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets (CM)

The midfield anchorman was another one who had an ordinary season last time around and will be hoping to set that right this year.

Sergi Roberto (CM)

The utility man scored the second goal for the Catalan giants last weekend and looked very promising. Should retain his place in the starting setup.

Gerard Deulofeu (RW)

The summer signing played a role in both the goals in the opening game against Betis and his link-up with Semedo down the right-hand side could turn out to be a strong facet of Barca’s game.

Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi (CF)

The little magician was unlucky not to score last Sunday against Real Betis, but dominated the proceedings by operating as a false-nine. Set to start in a similar position again.

Denis Suarez (LW)

After Paco Alcacer’s poor game on the left wing last weekend, Valverde might consider bringing Denis Suarez into the starting setup.
