Is This Portugal Trickster A Worthy Signing For Liverpool?

Throughout the summer, Liverpool have been linked with many wingers and the latest addition to that list is former Manchester United winger Nani. According to reports, Jurgen Klopp is impressed with Nani’s performances for Fenerbache in the Turkish League and is on his radar. But is Nani a worthy signing for Liverpool?

Nani played 230 matches for Manchester United and scored 40 goals. He rose to popularity during his time at Old Trafford but in his last few seasons at Manchester United he saw a dip in form. Less game time meant he left Manchester United for Turkish side Fenerbache at the end of the 2014/15 season. Nani had an excellent last season at Fenerbache, scoring 8 goals and registering 8 assists in 28 appearances in the league. Nani is in supreme form right now and it is evident from his performances in the EURO 2016. Nani has so far scored 2 goals and has 1 assist to his credit in the tournament.

Liverpool have been looking for wingers throughout the summer, primarily left. Liverpool need to sign a left back rather than an attacking winger. The club does not have a proper attacking winger but there are players who play quite well on the flanks. Nani is a versatile player and can play in the right wing, left wing as well as through the centre. He has scored 7 goals and registered 3 assists while playing through the wings. Nani’s pace and direct style of play makes him a threatening winger. He makes darting runs through the wings, cuts inside and plays perfect passes for his team mates to finish or takes a direct shot on goal.

Nani is a good player but his consistency has always been a concern. He has one very good season and then fails to reproduce the same form. Nani is a worthy signing but at the moment, Liverpool possibly do not need him. Also, reports suggest that Nani is set to play for Valencia and the chances of Liverpool signing him are thin. And being a former Manchester United man, majority of Liverpool’s fans will not want him at the club.
