Poor Phillips – The Bad And The Worst Rated Leeds United Players Vs Burton Albion

Full Time: Burton Albion 2-1 Leeds United

Leeds United were handed further setback to their playoff hopes when they were defeated 2-1 by Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Second half goals in the space of 3 minutes from Marvin Sordell and Michael Kightly sealed the game, but the Whites threatened to make a comeback when defender Kyle Bartley scored in the 80th minute. But Leeds couldn’t get complete a turnaround.

The result means that Garry Monk’s side are winless in their last 3 games and have lost 2 on the run now. With Fulham and Sheffield Wednesday winning their games as well, Leeds are left in 7th place, 3 points off 6th placed Fulham, with 2 games left in the season, as their playoff hopes hang by a thread.

Here is how the Leeds players fared on the day:

Leeds United Player Ratings

Rob Green – 6/10

Not much he could do about either of the goals. But did pull off an excellent double save late in the game.

Luke Ayling – 6/10

The pace of Lloyd Dyer was a thorn in his stride, but got forward and threatened on occasions when he got the chance.

Kyle Bartley – 6/10

Looked solid at the back for most of the game and was a threat in the opposition box as well from set-pieces. Gave his team some hope with a late goal.

Pontus Jansson – 6/10

Won countless headers from set-piece situations in his box, but the 2 goals conceded will have gutted the giant Swede.

Charlie Taylor – 6/10

Came in for Gaetano Berardi at left-back and offered quite a bit going forward. Put in some decent crosses, but a lack of match fitness showed.

Kalvin Phillips – 4/10

By far the poorest Leeds player on the pitch. Burton midfielders ran all over him. His passing was also way off the radar. Should be dropped for the next game.

Ronaldo Vieira – 7/10

Returned to the line-up after missing out last week. Was strong in his tackles, intelligent in possession, looked the most gritty Leeds player on the field.

Kemar Roofe – 4/10

Frustrating outing for the former Oxford United man. Struggled to get into the game and missed a very easy chance.

Pablo Hernandez – 5/10

Headed wide from a good position. Looked to make things happen in the attacking third, but lacked the cutting edge.

Souleymane Doukara – 4/10

Looked off the pace and things rarely went his way. Showed his strength on a few occasions, but could not make an impact. Was subbed off.

Chris Wood – 5/10

Was involved in the only goal for his side, but rarely threatened the Burton goal. Just one goal in the past six games does not indicate a great run.

Substitutes

Hadi Sacko – 5/10

Came on for Doukara on the hour mark. Offered plenty of pace, but the quality was lacking.

Alfonso Pedraza Sag – 5/10

Replaced the abysmal Phillips in the 66th minute. No impact whatsoever.
