Brilliant Messi – The Best And The Worst Rated Barcelona Players From Their 4-2 Win Over Eibar

Barcelona

Full Time: Barcelona 4-2 Eibar

Barcelona lost the La Liga title to Real Madrid, despite producing a 4-2 comeback win over Eibar at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

Two fantastic goals from Japanese winger Takashi Inui gave the visitors a shock 2-0 lead, but an own goal from David Junca sparked a comeback. Luis Suarez then made it 2-2 from point-blank before Lionel Messi added the third from the penalty spot. The Argentine doubled his tally for the day with an individual goal late in the game, but the title was lost as Real won their game against Malaga.

Here are the Barcelona player ratings for the game against Eibar:

Barcelona Player Ratings

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 6/10

There wasn’t much he could do about both of Inui’s goals. Was not called into action other than that. Showed confidence on the ball.

Sergi Roberto – 5/10

Allowed Inui the free rein to come into the box and open the scoring. Was taken off at half-time by Luis Enrique.

Marlon – 6/10

Started his second game for Barcelona and looked up for it. Had it pretty comfortable for most parts and did well when called upon.

Samuel Umtiti – 7/10

Capped off a brilliant debut campaign with another solid show. The only signing from last summer that has proven to be a hit.

Jordi Alba – 5/10

Played high up the pitch most of the times, offering width for Barcelona in the attack. Disgracefully won a penalty in the second period which Messi missed.

Sergio Busquets – 5.5/10

Was put under severe pressure by Eibar and was overran for most of the first-half. Improved in the second period.

Ivan Rakitic – 6/10

Was industrious and put in a lot of effort, but was hardly effective going forward. Replaced by Paco Alcacer.

Andres Iniesta – 7/10

Started slowly, but was a big influence in the second period. Came close to scoring twice, but was denied by equally good saves from Yoel.

Lionel Messi – 7/10

Missed a penalty in the second half and a sitter from two yards. Was not his best night by a long distance, but still ended up with two goals – a penalty and a brilliant individual goal in stoppage time.

Luis Suarez – 6/10

Extremely wasteful in the first period as he missed two great one on one chances. Eventually found the net to bring his team back on level terms, before going on to miss another one-on-one scenario.

Neymar – 6/10

Brought his team back into the game as it was his shot that hit the post and was diverted into the Eibar goal by Junca. Won the second penalty (another dive) that Messi scored from.

Substitutes

Andre Gomes – 4/10

Replaced Roberto at right-back and like his predecessor, he let Inui unattended, allowing him to score the second. Struggled in an unfamiliar position.

Paco Alcacer – 6/10

Came on for Rakitic with 20 minutes to spare and made an immediate impact as his flicked pass allowed Suarez to score the equalizer. Missed the only scoring chance that he got.
