Predicted Tottenham Hotspur line-up to face Tranmere in the FA Cup

Tottenham Hotspur kick off their FA Cup campaign with a trip to Prenton Park to face Tranmere Rovers in the third round on Friday.

The north Londoners have lost just once in nine games, scoring 25 goals in all competitions thanks to the red-hot form of their attacking players.

Mauricio Pochettino has transformed Tottenham Hotspur into genuine title challengers in recent years but despite his success, silverware has eluded him so far at north London. The Argentine tactician will expect his team to complete the job against Tranmere, who currently sit ninth in League Two.

Team News

Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen, Victor Wanyama, Mousa Dembele and Vincent Janssen all remain sidelined, while Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier are major doubts for the Tranmere Rovers clash.

Probable Tottenham Hotspur XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Paulo Gazzaniga (GK)

Gazzaniga should be given the nod ahead of Lloris for the cup game on Friday.

Kyle Walker-Peters (RB)

Walker-Peters deserves a run of games at right-back. He is a special talent and Pochettino should look forward to nurturing him.

Davinson Sanchez

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

Sanchez should keep his place in the team. He will have to be at the top of his game to keep Tranmere Rovers at bay.

Juan Foyth (CB)

Partnering Sanchez in central defence could be Foyth. Composed in possession, the young Argentine will look to repay his manager’s faith on Friday.

Ben Davies (LB)

Davies may not be a high-flying left-back but he excels in his positional awareness and game-reading skills.

Oliver Skipp (CM)

One of brightest academy starlets, Skipp could be handed a start by Pochettino in central midfield.

Harry Winks

Harry Winks (CM)

Winks has become a mainstay in the team and is expected to retain his place. His energy and an eye for the defence-splitting pass make him such a valuable player for Tottenham Hotspur.

Moussa Sissoko (RW)

Sissoko has done extremely well, offering bite and physicality to the midfield. He should start on the right-hand side of the attack.

Dele Alli (CAM)

Alli is tailormade for the no.10 role as he expertly links the play between the midfield and the attack. He is a certain starter at Tranmere.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou (LW)

N’Koudou has played less than half an hour of football this season. He could get a rare start in the FA Cup.

Fernando Llorente (ST)

Fernando Llorente could get an opportunity to show what he can offer up front for Spurs.
