Pochettino to make 7 changes – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Tottenham lineup to face Newport County

Predicted Tottenham Lineup To Face Newport County In The FA Cup

Tottenham Hotspur will face off against League Two outfit Newport County in the 4th round of the FA Cup, at the Rodney Parade on Saturday.

Spurs made it through to this stage by defeating AFC Wimbledon 3-0 at the Wembley Stadium and will be keen on putting in another strong display to progress to the next round. Manager Mauricio Pochettino will see the FA Cup as an avenue to land a trophy come the end of the season and will hope his players step up from the 1-1 draw against Southampton this past weekend in the Premier League.

Team News

Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen are expected to miss out again due to illness, while full-back Serge Aurier is also a doubt with an ankle injury. Harry Winks is also likely to sit out, while Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld are confirmed absentees.

Here’s how Spurs might take the field on Saturday:

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Paulo Gazzaniga (GK)

The Argentine shot-stopper could come into the line-up in place of Michel Vorm who played the previous league game for Spurs.

Kieran Trippier (RB)

The England international will slot in at right-back against Newport County, with Serge Aurier not 100% fit.

Juan Foyth (CB)

The young centre-half has been used regularly in the cup competitions and that shouldn’t change this coming weekend.

Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

The Belgian centre-back should partner Foyth in the heart of the defence to provide an experienced presence on the field.

Kyle Walker-Peters (LB)

The academy graduate is expected to slot in at the left-back position. Pochettino likely to rest Ben Davies, with Spurs set to play Manchester United next.

Victor Wanyama (CM)

The Kenyan midfielder did not get any minutes against Southampton last weekend. Should be in line for a start on Saturday.

Eric Dier (CM)

The English midfielder is likely to take the field alongside Wanyama, as the manager might want to protect Mousa Dembele for the midweek clash against United.

Moussa Sissoko (RW)

With Eriksen unlikely to feature, Moussa Sissoko should once again be handed a starting role on the right flank.

Fernando Llorente

Erik Lamela (CAM)

The Argentine has been slowly eased into action by Pochettino after his year-long absence. Should make the starting XI on Saturday.

Son Heung-Min (LW)

The South Korean has been Tottenham’s best player this season, along with Harry Kane. He will take his place on the left-wing.

Fernando Llorente (ST)

The Spanish striker hasn’t been able to hit the ground running since his summer move. Will be keen on proving his value with a strong performance on Saturday, if he gets to start ahead of the world-class Harry Kane.
