Pochettino to make 6 changes – Predicted 4-3-3 Tottenham lineup to face Newport County

Predicted Tottenham Hotspur Lineup To Face Newport County At Wembley

Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying an impressive run of form in recent weeks and their Sunday evening outing against Liverpool proved to be an extremely fortunate encounter when a late controversial call from the match officials earned them a last-gasp equaliser from the spot.

They, however, have one extra fixture on Wednesday night when they host League Two club Newport County at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup 4th round replay. The Exiles almost humiliated the Premier League giants in the previous outing but were denied a historic triumph following Harry Kane’s late equalizer. Mauricio Pochettino’s men, meanwhile, would be upbeat and confident of a comprehensive win and a Wembley upset is quite unlikely this midweek.

Team News

Although they have rejoined the first-team for training, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose remain a doubt for Tottenham. Harry Winks is fit following his recovery from an ankle injury and was named on the bench against Liverpool. New signing Lucas Moura is still short of match fitness.

Formation: 4-3-3

Pochettino has been flexible with his formations but has settled for a 4-back formation of late. He is likely to field a 4-3-3 setup that has earned him a decent unbeaten streak in recent weeks.

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Hugo Lloris (GK)

Although the North Londoners have a quality option in the form of Michel Vorm, Pochettino might not consider their opponents lightly and could field Hugo Lloris between the sticks against the minnows.

Serge Aurier (RB)

The fullback is now fit and available. He should start this game in his usual right-back role.

Juan Foyth (CB)

The young Argentine has been impressive in the limited game-time he has received and might be fielded once more against the Exiles on Wednesday night.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

The Colombian had a bad game against Liverpool and will be determined to help his team progress to the 5th round of this historic cup competition.

Davinson Sanchez

Kyle Walker-Peters (LB)

Pochettino has been a keen admirer of this academy graduate and has handed him some crucial first-team minutes so far this campaign. He might be recalled to the Spurs first-team against the fourth tier outfit.

Eric Dier (CDM)

Dier had a disappointing and erroneous encounter against Liverpool but the occasion against the midweek minnows might be crucial for the English international to regain his confidence ahead of the prestigious North London derby.

Moussa Sissoko (RCM)

Sissoko has been facing the flak from the Tottenham supporters but has been fielded regularly by Pochettino. He is likely to start against Newport County.

Victor Wanyama (LCM)

His wonder strike against Liverpool brought Tottenham back into the game and the Kenyan international might be awarded a start on Wednesday night.

Erik Lamela

Erik Lamela (RW)

The Argentine was controversially awarded a penalty in the closing seconds that helped Spurs to escape with a crucial point from Anfield. His late cameo made quite an impact and that might hand him a start against the midweek opponents.

Heung-min Son (LW)

The South Korean sensation had a quiet outing against Liverpool but has been in a scintillating run of form this season. He will be instrumental in troubling the opponent’s back-line with his tricky runs, pace and link-up play.

Harry Kane (ST)

Hitman Harry Kane has now entered Premier League’s 100-goal club with a late equaliser from the spot against Liverpool. He is likely to start this midweek too in order to continue his majestic scoring run.
