(Picture) Arsenal Set To Hand Rookie Goalkeeper A Debut In The Champions League

Arsenal ‘will’ start 22-year old Emiliano Martinez against Anderlecht this week as David Ospina has been ruled out for the game, according to the The Mirror. Arsenal’s first choice keeper Wojciech Szczesny is suspended for the Champions league game against Anderlecht, thanks to his straight red against Galatasaray.

The Colombian Ospina signed from Nice this summer was expected to start his first ever Champions League game, but his injury will mean that Arsene Wenger will have to call upon his third choice keeper to make his first team debut in the Champions League.

Martinez will only play his third game for the Gunners since joining the club in 2010.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a confidence booster, after having drawn yet another game in the league, which leaves them 11 points shy at the top of the table and stand at a lowly 7th place behind West Ham and Southampton. The game against Anderlecht gives the team a perfect opportunity to grab a win before they visit Sunderland next week.

Midfielders Arteta and Ramsey made their return against Hull and are in contention to start the game on Wednesday. The Gunners also have positive news on Theo Walcott, who played for the U21 team last Friday and is fully fit.
