Spurs lost that game but worse news was to follow regarding their star striker. The English captain had to undergo surgery to fix the problem and is expected to be out for a while.

That comes as a blow to Jose Mourinho as the new manager needs his top players for the remainder of the campaign.

Kane is possibly the best striker in the Premier League and the Englishman posted a couple of updates after surgery on his hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old said that surgery went well and he was recovering now:

Kane has been Tottenham’s top-scorer for several seasons but he has a history of missing chunks of the season.

The Englishman had two major ankle injuries last time around, and just about returned to fitness for the Champions League final.

Spurs will find it hard to replace the Englishman and they are struggling at the moment.

Tottenham’s slide continues

Mourinho’s arrival saw a revival in Spurs’ fortunes with some wins on the board. However, Tottenham have won just one of their last five Premier League games.

Spurs lie eighth in the table and are nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea. Their last game also didn’t go too well with Liverpool running out 1-0 winners.

The Premier League leaders dominated in the early going but Tottenham missed some glorious chances in the final 15 minutes.

Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso were the two players that should have scored, but they were unable to hit the target.
