Perfect Leo Messi – The Best And The Worst Rated Barcelona Players From The 6-1 Win Vs Eibar

Full Time: Barcelona 6-1 SD Eibar

Barcelona continued their brilliant run of form in the La Liga, as they thrashed Eibar 6-1 at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, thanks to a masterclass from the magical Lionel Messi.

The Argentine star opened the scoring for the home team, slotting home a penalty 20 minutes into the game, before weekend’s hero Paulinho headed home from a Denis Suarez corner to make it 2-0 in the 38th minute. Suarez himself found the net for the second game running, eight minutes into the second period. Sergi Enrich pulled one back for the visitors in the 57th minute, before Messi ran riot, scoring two goals in three minutes around the hour mark, to complete his hat-trick and later going on to add a fourth one as well.

It was another top class performance from the Catalans, led by their maverick Messi and here we take a look at how the Barcelona players fared on the night:

Barcelona Player Ratings

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 7/10

Made a couple of very good saves in the first period to deny Enrich and Takashi Inui. He had no chance to stop the goal that was conceded.

Nelson Semedo – 8/10

Another excellent display filled with energy on the right-hand side. Won the penalty for the opening goal and was a danger all game. Proving to be a great signing.

Gerard Pique – 6/10

Not the best of the games for the Spaniard. Made a number of errors and was beaten by Enrich for Eibar’s only goal.

Javier Mascherano – 7/10

Coming into the line-up for Samuel Umtiti, the veteran Argentine gave a good account of himself, putting in a reasonably solid performance.

Lucas Digne – 6/10

Replaced Jordi Alba in the starting XI, but did not offer the same attacking threat as the Spaniard. Fairly solid at the back though.

Paulinho – 8.5/10

Going about silencing his critics in style, he found the back of the net for the second time in three days’ time. Involved in the build-up for Barca’s third, before assisting Messi for his third.

Sergio Busquets – 7/10

Controlled the game very well in the middle of the park. Got himself an assist for Barca’s fourth goal, finding Messi at the edge of the box.

Andres Iniesta – 7/10

Another start for the veteran when many expected him to be given a rest. Steady and assured as always, before being taken off at the hour mark.

Gerard Deulofeu – 5.5/10

Was given an opportunity to seal his place in the absence of Ousmane Dembele, but the Spaniard struggled to impose himself on the game. No lack of effort, but lacked the quality and didn’t always make the right choice.

Lionel Messi – 10/10

9 goals in 5 league games already. Put on another exhibition, scoring 3 fine goals in the second-half to add to his cool penalty in the first period. Another perfect performance from the alien.

Denis Suarez – 8/10

Was the game changer over the weekend and contributed greatly this time as well, assisting Paulinho’s goal before scoring one for himself. Growing in confidence with every passing game.

Substitutes

Sergi Roberto – 6/10

Replaced Iniesta in the 63rd minute. Showed some nice touches and drive from midfield.

Ivan Rakitic – 6/10

Came on for Busquets in the 65th minute. Kept things ticking nicely.

Aleix Vidal – 7/10

On for Deulofeu for the final 15 minutes. Showed he can be a good influence on the wings, setting up the team’s sixth goal, scored by Messi.
