Pay £24million And Take The Player: Real Madrid Slaps Price For Liverpool’s Croatian Target

Mateo Kovacic

Real Madrid has told Liverpool that if they want to sign Matteo Kovacic in the summer then they will need to cough up £24 million.

The Croatian had a miserable season at Santiago Bernabeu having scored only one goal in the entire season. He also managed to start only 8 games last season. This has convinced Real to sell the player and Italian news Gazetta dello Sport has claimed that Klopp has been informed about the quoted price for the player.

The report suggests that the German manager was initially thinking of a loan deal but now is looking to make the move permanent. Kovacic too is ready to move as he has fallen down the pecking order behind Isco, Modric and Kroos. The 22 year old is not going to be a straight forward purchase though as reports from Italy say that AS Roma are also interested in the midfielder as they need to replace Miralem Pjanic and may end up losing Radja Nainggolan.
