Bundesliga Speedster Or This Belgian Brute Force? Who Should Arsenal Sign This Summer?

published :

The newly crowned FA Cup champions, Arsenal, are already plotting for next season. After coming short this season from the Premier League title and hastily exiting the UEFA Champions League despite being given a favourable tie against Monaco, Arsenal are set to spend more cash this summer to strengthen their team.

The need of the hour might be a top class central defender and a defensive midfielder but one region Arsenal lacked this season was in the striker department. Olivier Giroud was the only striker who offered any sort of positive for the Gunners this season, despite spending a lengthy period out injured. The likes of Danny Welbeck and Yaya Sanogo don’t really provide fear into the hearts of defenders and this could be one reason why Arsene Wenger is willing to bring a big money move to help his front line.

Rumours are starting to spread about Arsene willing to buy either Christian Benteke from Aston Villa or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund, both are 25-years-old and are a threat to defences, we see which player might be better suited to join Arsenal.

Pace or brute force?

Arsenal need someone who doesn’t just play up top, they need someone who is fluid and can take up various positions throughout the game. While Benteke is one of the form strikers currently, he has been known to play right down the middle, lapping up crossing and being a bully to defenders. Not that Benteke can’t score with his foot; he does have a great strike in him and has great power in his finishing as well.

Aubameyang on the other hand, can play in many positions, he can play anywhere in the top three for Arsenal and can even chip in as an attacking midfielder for the Gunners. Arsenal have always looked for players who can not only score the goals but can set them up as well and Aubameyang fits the bill perfectly.

He might not have played in the Premier League before but he is one of the fastest players out there in the world and that is something which would work perfectly for Arsenal as they are known for their great counter attacking ability and attacking pace. Aubameyang is a great header of the ball as well, but that isn’t something which would catch the eye of an Arsenal supporter. His pace and control are brilliant and he would be ideal for Arsenal, especially when he plays up top with the support of Walcott, Ozil and Sanchez.

Aubameyang also provides a different dimension to Olivier Giroud, who is a more natural striker and is probably one of the best finishers in the league and his positioning is second to none. Aubameyang would be a perfect partner for Giroud as well if it comes to that but for now Arsenal should try to get the Gabon international from Dortmund. He might be a little expensive since he still has 3 years left in his contract, but he could complete the Arsenal attack and hopefully help them win a lot more titles in the future.
