West Ham and Manchester United played out a boring goalless draw at the London Stadium, although the result ensured Jose Mourinho’s team a 2nd-place finish in the Premier League.
West Ham’s Marko Arnautovic hit an early strike straight at David De Gea before heading over from six yards after Chris Smalling made a mess of clearing Aaron Cresswell’s cross.
West Ham goalkeeper Adrian was called into action as he denied Jesse Lingard’s vicious drive from outside the box. Moments later, Sanchez drew another stop from Adrian before the hosts’ shot-stopper turned Luke Shaw’s follow-up strike on to the post.
Moments before the first half whistle, Lingard again tested Adrian, who pulled off another good save to keep the score at 0-0.
After the break, Paul Pogba tried a few long-rangers but never tested Adrian. The game that lacked the intensity and drama all night suddenly burst into life due to a flare-up between Mark Noble and Pogba. Noble grabbed Pogba’s face, sparking a mass commotion.
That summed up the game as it never lived up to the billing and ended in a flat 0-0 stalemate.

De Gea was a mere spectator in the game. He fully deserves the Golden Glove award for the most number of clean sheets this season.
Antonio Valencia – 5/10
Starting as a right-wing back, Valencia got up and down the pitch but his crossing continues to remain so poor.
Victor Lindelof – 6/10
Lindelof was the most composed of the three defenders. Seems to enjoy playing in a back-three when he gets the extra security to move a few yards further with the ball.
Chris Smalling – 5/10
Had few nervy moments as Arnautovic gave him a tough time throughout the night. Missed a good chance from the corner.
Phil Jones – 6/10
Jones was comfortable and tidy on the ball. An encouraging night for the England international, whose performance against the Hammers could earn him a berth in the FA Cup final.
Luke Shaw – 6/10
Starting as the left-wing back, Shaw showed a lot of promise and adventure. He came close to scoring his first career goal. Looked sharp and played with an intent to prove a point to his boss.
Ander Herrera – 5/10
Herrera sat deep and played simple passes whenever he received the ball. Never looked to take risks and did what was asked of him.
Scott McTominay – 5/10
McTominay had a decent chance in the first half but his shot went wide. He showed some nice touches but lacked the bite in the midfield.
Paul Pogba – 3/10
Calamitous! As usual, he tried to complicate things when a simple pass could have been the solution. His touch on the ball deserted him at times, while he took a few shots from long range.
Jesse Lingard – 6/10
Industrious and lively as Lingard picked up good spaces that threatened the West Ham defence. Tested Adrian with a couple of right-footed drives.
Alexis Sanchez – 8/10
United’s best performer by a country mile on a dull evening at the London stadium. The Chilean was always looking to create chances and his movement always caused the West Ham defenders a number of problems.
