Outstanding Rudiger, Poor Alonso – The best and the worst rated Chelsea stars in the 2-2 draw vs Man United

Chelsea Player Ratings vs Manchester United – Here’s how the Blues fared

Ross Barkley equalised in the sixth minute of stoppage time as Chelsea snatched a draw against Manchester United to maintain their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Antonio Rudiger put Chelsea in front after losing his marker, Paul Pogba, during a corner routine in the first half. But Anthony Martial lashed home to level things up after the break before drilling a 15-yard shot past goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to put Manchester United ahead.

Martial’s second goal looked to have won the game for Jose Mourinho’s United, only for substitute Ross Barkley to strike after David Luiz’s header hit the post and Rudiger’s follow-up was saved by David De Gea.

Chelsea Player Ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 5/10

A mere spectator in the first half, with United hardly attacking his goal. Denied Juan Mata’s deflected effort just seconds before Anthony Martial equalised. He had no chance to stop Martial’s second.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 6/10

Azpilicueta put in a decent show at right-back. Got forward well and defended diligently.

Antonio Rudiger – 8/10

Put Chelsea’s noses in front with a powerful header. Kept Lukaku at bay for almost the entire game to continue his good start to the new season.

Antonio Rudiger

David Luiz – 5/10

Luiz had a solid game for the Blues. It was his header in the dying seconds of the game that smacked the post and Barkley scored from.

Marcos Alonso – 4/10

Found himself out of position for United’s second goal. He struggled to cope with the pace of Rashford at times.

Jorginho – 7/10

A really bright first half but he faded after the break as United mounted the pressure. Overall, Jorginho had a solid game in the middle of the park.

Jorginho

N’Golo Kante – 7/10

Lashed in a powerful shot only for De Gea to deny him in the second half. Kante toiled hard in the midfield but couldn’t impact as much as he would have liked to.

Mateo Kovacic – 6/10

Kovacic was full of energy in the first half as he picked up pockets of spaces behind United’s defence. Another good display from the Croatian.

Willian – 5/10

It was his corner through which Rudiger headed home Chelsea’s first. Willian faded after the break and was hooked off.

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard – 7/10

Was unstoppable at times in the first half as Hazard toyed with the United players. But when Chelsea needed his magic after the interval, he failed to show up.

Alvaro Morata – 4/10

Linked up well at times but he couldn’t influence the game. Morata tested De Gea after the break following a smart turn in the box but he was largely kept in check by Smalling.

Substitutes

Ross Barkley – 5/10

Popped up at the right time and the right place to equalise for Chelsea in stoppage time.

Pedro – 3/10

Replaced Willian but struggled to make an impact.

Olivier Giroud – 3/10

Giroud’s touch deserted him as he failed to influence the game after replacing Morata.
