Outstanding Roofe, disappointing Cooper – The best and the worst-rated Leeds United stars vs Rotherham United

Leeds United player ratings vs Rotherham United: Who impressed and who didn’t?

Leeds United continued their winning start to the ongoing Championship season with a routine 2-0 win over Rotherham United. Marcelo Bielsa’s men tried hard but failed to break the deadlock in the first half. However, Kemar Roofe and Luke Ayling were on target to complete a comfortable win in the latter half of the game.

To be fair, Rotherham created a few chances to score but failed to find the back of the net. This win makes it three wins in three league games for Leeds, who are seemingly surging towards Championship glory. They were made to work harder today, which will be part and parcel of a long season ahead.

Here’s how the Peacocks’ players rated in this game:

Leeds United player ratings

Bailey Peacock-Farrell – 8.5/10

Was rested midweek but came back and made two good saves in the first half. Skipper Liam Cooper should thank him for that after a misplaced pass.

Luke Ayling

Luke Ayling – 8/10

Ayling performed typically well, bombing forward and linking up play with Pablo Hernandez. Got his goal today to open the scoring early in the second half.

Gaetano Berardi – 7.5/10

Berardi looked comfortable for most parts of the game but it is evident that the centre-back position doesn’t suit him. With that in mind, he did well to adapt and gave his 100% for the team.

Liam Cooper – 5.5/10

The skipper was fortunate that his two big mistakes were not punished in the first half. Needless to say, Cooper must improve in the games to come by.

Barry Douglas – 7/10

Performed his defensive duties diligently and made forays up the pitch when required. Douglas has settled into this team in a trice, despite joining only this summer.

Kalvin Phillips – 6.5/10

Although he began the game well, Phillips started giving possession away too easily in the first half. However, the defensive midfielder got his mojo back after the break and he put in a composed performance.

Mateusz Klich

Mateusz Klich – 7.5/10

A comfortable and commanding showing from the Pole, who is developing himself into a vital player for Bielsa in central midfield.

Samuel Saiz – 7/10

The Spaniard was marked tightly in the first half whenever he received possession. However, he still looked threatening and incisive with his overall game.

Pablo Hernandez – 7/10

When Saiz struggled in the early parts of the game, Hernandez took charge to be a main attacking threat for Leeds. The latter laboured a touch in the second half but managed to produce quality when needed.

Ezgjan Alioski – 6.5/10

The Macedonian was full of running throughout the game but it just didn’t click for him, more so in the first half.

Kemar Roofe

Kemar Roofe – 8/10

Showed excellent work-rate and was instrumental in the team’s first goal. The striker scored, later on, to finish the game for Rotherham.
