Manchester City returned to the summit of the Premier League after claiming an important 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur. Pep Guardiola’s men were mostly dominant but Spurs turned the tide late in the second half though they were unable to find an equaliser.
Riyad Mahrez slotted home Raheem Sterling’s neat square ball into the net. The Cityzens came close through Aguero and Sterling but failed to make the most of their chances.
The Brazilian didn’t have much to do and made a brilliant tackle to stop Harry Kane from finding the net. He was superb with his distribution.
Was defensively strong on the night and used his pace to keep Lamela and Moura at bay. But Walker didn’t provide much going forward.
A neat and tidy performance from John Stones at the back although he was troubled by Kane at times.
Laporte was solid at the back and won a number of vital headers inside the box.
Started the game in a shaky manner but got better as time went on. Mendy was unable to provide much going forward as both full-backs were kept quiet.
The Portuguese international was superb with his pin-point short passes that had a lot of conviction.
Defended tirelessly and moved the ball in the middle of the park. He certainly has proven to be a gem of a midfielder under Guardiola.
Silva has now created the most chances by any player in the Premier League this season. His passing and awareness were supreme on the night.
The Algerian is now a pure Guardiola player and he has completely bought into the philosophy. Mahrez tucked in a neat goal and posed a massive threat all night.
Was unable to make his one or two chances count. Aguero was kept quiet overall.
Picked up the assist for Mahrez’s goal and posed all sorts of problems down the flank.
Gave away the ball in a dangerous area after coming on, but the Belgian then went on to play a couple of incisive passes up front.
Ensured City saw out the win but didn’t have much to do apart from that.
