Outstanding Kemar Roofe – The Best And The Worst Rated Leeds Players From The 3-1 Win vs QPR

Full Time: Queens Park Rangers 1-3 Leeds United

Leeds United defeated Queens Park Rangers 3-1, at the Loftus Road on Saturday, courtesy of a sensational second-half hat-trick from Kemar Roofe.

It took more than an hour for the deadlock to be broken in the game, and it was the Whites who opened their account when Roofe headed home a cross from Gjanni Alioski in the 63rd minute. Five minutes later, the Whites were two goals up through that man again, with Roofe scoring via a simple tap-in from substitute Pawel Cibicki’s cross.

There was a late twist in the game, as a horrendous mistake from Felix Wiedwald in the Leeds goal allowed Pawel Wszolek to pull one back for QPR in the 90th minute, to provide a scare to the visitors. But Roofe dispelled any fears of that, completing his hat-trick deep into added time to seal all three points for Leeds.

The win meant Leeds moved a place ahead, into the 7th position in the EFL Championship standings, 4 points below Sheffield United who occupy the final playoff position. Here’s how the Whites’ stars performed on the day.

Leeds United Player Ratings

Felix Wiedwald – 5/10

Made an awful mistake, letting the ball bounce over him and into the back of the net but did redeem himself by making a save off Idrissa Sylla soon after.

Luke Ayling – 6/10

Got forward well and used possession to good effect. However, he did get caught out of position defensively on occasions.

Pontus Jansson – 7.5/10

Another strong display from the giant Swede. Read the game very well and won everything in the air, keeping the Hoops at bay.

Liam Cooper – 7/10

Did his job well and played his role in keeping the threat of Matt Smith under wraps. Continued his recent upturn of form.

Gaetano Berardi – 6/10

Did not enjoy the best of the first-halves but improved significantly after the break. Made one important intervention to keep the home team from scoring.

Kalvin Phillips – 7/10

Booked in the first-half. Was his usual solid self in the middle of the park and got into good attacking positions late in the game.

Ronaldo Vieira – 7/10

Was exceptional in the second period, after a slow start to the game. Never really allowed QPR to get going and used the ball very intelligently when in possession. A mature display from the youngster.

Gjanni Alioski – 7/10

Didn’t have the best of the games until he produced a cross out of nothing to set Roofe up for the opener. Continues to impress of late.

Kemar Roofe scored a brilliant hat-trick to secure a 3-1 win for Leeds United

Samu Saiz – 7.5/10

Wasn’t at his free-flowing best but he kept producing crucial moments in the final third every now and then. Provided the assist for Roofe’s third and could have had a goal himself.

Kemar Roofe – 9/10

Disappointing start to the game but burst into life after the break, scoring all the three goals for Leeds to take them to victory. Looks much better suited to playing as a striker, than on the wings.

Caleb Ekuban – N/A

Limped off with an injury in the first-period.

Substitutes

Pawel Cibicki – 8/10

Replaced the injured Ekuban in the 38th minute. Showed what he can do if given a chance in the team with a brilliant display on the flank. Got the assist for the second goal.

Eunan O’Kane – 6/10

On for Alioski soon after the second goal as Leeds looked to protect the lead.

Matthew Pennington – N/A

Came on for Vieira with less than 15 minutes to play.
