Arsenal have had a relatively quiet transfer period this season, there haven’t been those large signings which have taken place over the last two seasons although Arsene Wenger does have the money to spend.
The Gunners have signed former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, who should help his team out, especially in defence, a problem that has plagued the club for a long time. Arsenal also have a ton of players coming back from injury which should help them in their quest of winning the Premier League title from Chelsea.
There is a lot of discussion going on about one such top star from Bundesliga who may switch clubs this Summer. Any guesses? We are not talking about Marco Reus but about his ex- teammate, Mario Gotze.
Bayern Munich seem to be getting rid of a lot of their man players, alright, they only lost out on Bastian, but he was the quintessential professional in the Bayern team. If the German club can sell off a legend in German football, they could do it to the golden boy of German football as well. Reportedly, Liverpool are targetting a big money move for the German attacker. Should Arsenal join them and turn this into a transfer race?
The big question is do Arsenal really need someone like Mario Gotze?
Arsenal have tons of options to play behind the main striker, Sanchez, Walcott, Ramsey, Ozil and a few more can certainly take up the role if needed. Arsenal really need someone to spearhead their attack or someone who can provide a lot of control and decision-making to their central defence, not another player who can link up with the attack, like Gotze.
Don’t get me wrong, Gotze would be an incredible signing for any club in the world. The German can play in a ton of positions and can actually turn games on their head. He is a great passer and finisher and has a great work ethic also.
The only reason Arsenal should not attempt to sign the player is due to the fact they already have so many options available to them. If they can actually make room for Gotze by selling someone like Ozil and Cazorla, they should then sign the German world cup winner. Gotze would bring a lot of dynamic movement to the Gunners and would be a perfect signing for their attacking style of play, but the price point could also be a huge factor for the Bayern star.
It shouldn’t be a surprise if Bayern ask a bomb for the player, after all, he is one of the best players in the world and is still young and growing. Arsenal could also provide Gotze with the perfect platform to grow better but this transfer won’t happen because it wouldn’t help Arsenal out in any way apart from giving them an extra set of teeth in midfield, when they already have a set of crocodile teeth in the team.
