Opinion – Despite the presence of Aarons and Lewis, Norwich City should sign this Premier League sensation in the summer

Norwich City Opinion: Why Farke should sign Joe Bryan in the summer?

Joe Bryan was one of the best left-backs in the Championship last season but he has been bang average in a poor Fulham side in the Premier League. He continues to be a part of the Fulham side that is going nowhere but likely to end up in the Championship next season.

The Cottagers find themselves in deep trouble, eight points adrift of safety with 11 games left. Things are looking bleak for Claudio Ranieri after passing week, with his team failing to stop the ball going into the back of their own net.

Should they get relegated, a lot of players Fulham spent big money last summer will likely leave Craven Cottage. One of the summer signings was Joe Bryan, who, despite not having a successful season in the Premier League, would have buyers.

Championship league leaders Norwich City should take a punt of Joe Bryan in the summer.

The Canaries are in red-hot form at the moment and retained their place at the top with a fantastic 3-2 victory over Bristol City on Saturday. Norwich City are frontrunners for tasting promotion success, with Daniel Farke surprisingly turning the team into title contenders after a subdued start to the campaign.

With promotion to the top flight a big possibility, Farke should start planning on strengthening the squad. An area he should focus on reinforcing is the defence, especially the left-back position.

Farke has two rampaging full-backs in his squad in Max Aarons and Jamal Lewis—the two academy prospects that have already nailed their place in the starting XI.

Beyond them, the German manager has Ivo Pinto and Felix Passlack. Pinto could move on from Norwich after failing to get enough playing time this season, while Passlack will return back to Dortmund after the expiry of his loan spell.

In order to avoid a potential burnout of options on the left, Farke should lure away Joe Bryan from Fulham in the summer transfer window.

An aggressive and pacey left-back, Bryan can also operate as a wing-back and cause problems for the opposition defenders. He is a player who looks perfectly suited for Fake’s system, with his high-octane performances earning him great praise in Bristol City colours.

The 25-year-old could be an extremely influential outlet on the left-hand side of the Canaries’ team, and really toughen up their backline at the same time. Not only that, Bryan will also be beneficial for the development of the promising Lewis.

Verdict

It will be very important for Norwich to add more quality to their squad ahead of the 2019/20 campaign. Signing Bryan would probably make the Canaries even more stable defensively and at the same time scary when going forward.
