Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek has signed a new contract with the Blues. The new contract will keep the midfielder in Stamford Bridge till 2021. Loftus-Cheek joined the club when he was less than eight years old, thus it makes sense as to his trying to join the club in a long-term contract.
Chelsea’s policy of signing talented young players from around the world but giving chance only to established and experienced players has neglected the rise of many talents and has also made the club lose out on youth sportsmanship. Loftus-Cheek too has had the same issue and as such has only made 13 appearances for the Blues since his debut in 2014 and has played only 10 minutes of premier league football.
However, Jose Mourinho’s departure from the club and the appointment of interim manager Guus Hiddink may make some changes in the club’s policies.
“The club have done so much for me since I started here as an under-eight and now I want to repay the faith they have shown in me with my performances on the pitch,” he said.
