Nottingham Forest 5-5 Aston Villa: Villans play out a mad draw
Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest played out a humdinger 5-5 stalemate at Villa Park, in a game where drama was pouring out with every passing second. Tammy Abraham scored four goals for the home team, but it wasn’t enough to get three points against the visitors, who were later down to 10 men.
Lewis Grabban and Antunes Carvalho scored inside six minutes at the start to give Forest a two-goal lead. Abraham scored a brace, first in the 11th minute and then in the 14th minute to equalise the proceedings with just the one-sixth of the game played.
Cash made it 3-2 for the visitors in the 22nd minute, but Abraham was there again to score in the 36th minute to make it 3-3. The same scoreline was carried through at half-time, with everyone looking exhausted.
But there was no letting up in the intensity of the game after the break. Joe Lolley’s long-range effort restored the visitors’ lead. Pereira Figueiredo got sent off in the 68th minute, leaving Forest in a whole lot of trouble.
Abraham then equalised the score for the umpteenth time in the 71st minute. Villa took the lead when Anwar El-Ghazi curled in a beauty in the 75th minute. At that time, it looked like the home side could see this out, especially knowing that the visitors are down to 10 men.
However, Aitor Karanka’s men kept going and eventually Grabban scored at the near post to equal the proceedings eight minutes from time.
The final whistle arrived and it is fair to say that the neutrals would have been be disappointed that the game had to end. However, the fans of the respective teams in action would be delighted that this mad game came to an end.
