Nuno Santo to make no changes – Predicted 3-4-3 Wolves line-up to face Birmingham

Predicted Wolves Line-up To Face Birmingham City In The EFL Championship

After swatting away Derby County with ease, Wolverhampton Wanderers welcome Birmingham City in a West Midlands Derby that could seal their promotion to the Premier League with three games left to play.

Wolves need only two points from their remaining games to ensure they reach the top-tier of English football next season. They would want to confirm their place in style by beating one of their local rivals, who have been struggling this season.

Although Birmingham are now out of the bottom three, it has been a very disappointing season for the Blues and they will not want the added humiliation of helping the confirmation of Wolves’ promotion.

Probable Wolves XI

Manager: Nuno Espirito Santo

Formation: 3-4-2-1

GK – John Ruddy

The former Norwich goalkeeper has been a constant for Wolves and after his heroics against Cardiff, he hardly had a save to make against Derby. Will be hoping for another quiet afternoon.

CB – Willy Boly

Grabbed another assist against Derby and is one of the players in the Wolves squad that has Champions League rather than Championship quality.

CB – Conor Coady

Conor Coady represents his manager Nuno Espirito Santo on the pitch. His manager asked him to convert into a centre-back, so he did it without a question. He is growing into an excellent player under Nuno.

Willy Boly

CB – Ryan Bennett

It has gone a little under the radar that Ryan Bennett has kept club captain Danny Batth out of the Wolves team. He has performed very well in recent weeks.

LWB – Barry Douglas

A constant threat down the left-hand side and another player who has benefitted massively from Nuno Espirito Santo. He is having the season of his life.

CM – Romain Saiss

The Moroccan is the quieter of the midfield two but when your partner is Ruben Neves, you have to be.

CM – Ruben Neves

By far the Championship player of the season, the goal he scored against Derby wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Champions League games that were being played at the same time.

RWB – Matt Doherty

If there is one player who will enjoy this promotion more than anyone else, it is Matt Doherty. An academy boy who was here the last time they were in the promised land, he will eagerly be looking forward to the final whistle.

Diogo Jota

LW – Diogo Jota

A classy Premier League level player with 16 goals this season, there is nothing that Jota cannot do. He will relish the challenge of the Premier League.

RW – Ivan Cavaleiro

The 24-year-old has not had the influence that he perhaps had in the early parts of the season but Cavaleiro is keeping Helder Costa and Morgan Gibbs-White out of the team, which illustrates the level he is playing at.

ST – Benik Afobe

The return of Afobe has been such a good story for Wolves and for him to be able to celebrate promotion with them this season will be really sweet for the former Arsenal man.
