Not Good Enough – Three Players Manchester United Need To Sell/Loan In January

Manchester United will have quite a lot to do in the January window as their team needs some key improvements. But there are also players who are surplus to requirements. As Louis van Gaal tries to maintain his assets and liabilities, Manchester United would be hoping that these three players are either sold or loaned in the January window.

  1. Anderson (Sell/loan/release)

There have been news regarding van Gaal considering to release Anderson off Man Utd’s books. The player has been out of form and has deteriorated. Once deemed as a prodigy, Anderson is now a liability. It’s highly likely that Anderson will be sold or released in January.

Signed for £27m back in 2007, Anderson was considered the next Roy Keane and the perfect successor for Paul Scholes once he retires, but the Brazilian has since then been frozen out of the first team largely because of his lack of motivation that he once had as a teenager. The midfielder spent an unsuccessful second half of the season on loan at Fiorentina, and was on the verge of being sold in the summer. However, there were no takers for the Brazilian and has been training with the reserves since then. Anderson last featured for the Red Devils in the 4-0 thumping suffered at the hands of League one side MK Dons.

  1. Juan Mata (Sell/Swap)

He’s definitely world class but he’s not a regular in the team as he’s a misfit for van Gaal’s tactics. Anyway, Mata is still a prized asset in Europe and there’ll be clubs offering good deals for him. One of the strongest rumours have been that of a player swap between Manchester United and Juventus as the Red Devils target Arturo Vidal can be bought by including Mata in the deal.

Agreed, this sounds bizarre! But, would it pain to lose one midfielder, who has been below par and seems to be a misfit under LVG’s tactics and bring in another midfielder, who is definitely a world class player and the one that United actually need at the moment. While, Rooney has taken up the central role at Old Trafford, Mata has been benched or used as a substitute recently. However, Vidal on the other hand, can be a game changer. He can effectively replace the role performed by Marouane Fellaini at the moment and do it with at-most perfection. Although unlikely, the move can benefit both Mata and Manchester United.

  1. Tyler Blackett (Loan)

Tyler Blackett

Blackett impressed early in the season but he’s apparently very raw and needs to be developed. Paddy McNair is playing ahead of him based on form and fitness and it’s likely that United will get a big name Center Back in the January window. Blackett could do well on loan and gain crucial experience.
