Why Arsenal Should Do All It Takes To Land Lucas Moura From PSG

With just 13 points from 7 games, Arsenal are already playing catch up in the title race but there are more issues for Arsene Wenger to solve, before looking to launch a title charge. With contracts of some of his key players expiring at the end of the season, Wenger has only time until the turn of the year to persuade them to stay and it is not looking rosy at the moment.

The likes of Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla are all in the final few months of their stay at the Emirates and neither one of them are expected to sign a new deal anytime soon, albeit for different reasons.

So it does not come as a surprise that Wenger is looking high and dry for players who can cover for them in the future and one player who has been on his radar is Brazilian speedster, Lucas Moura, who is rated at £34.2m.

Since the failure of Theo Walcott at the Emirates, Wenger has not been able to use a natural winger on the flanks and failed in his bid to land Thomas Lemar, who could have solved the problem. However, he now wants to dip into the French market for a player who is surely unhappy at his current club.

Playing for PSG, the 25-year-old has not been a preferred choice under Unai Emery, and more so after the additions of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr at the Parc des Princes. With just 36 minutes of league football under his belt this season, Moura could look to quit the club as soon as possible and Arsenal might want to sign him up quickly.

Known for his exuberant pace and his ability to use his strength in the final third, Moura is a typically Brazilian player, who loves the flair of the game. He toys with defenders and will have field time in England. Arsenal are always known for their pacy attackers and there are a very few players who can replace the likes of Sanchez and Ozil. Lucas is definitely one of them.

With 34 goals and 33 assists in 150 Ligue1 appearances, Lucas has also represented the Brazilian national team 35 times, picking up 4 goals. He has 38 Champions League appearances and is an established star at the highest stage.

He has not played in England yet but a close look at his stats would tell you that he can be a menace against English defences. At his age, he is also a long-term option and is not too hard to prise away from PSG. Though Arsenal may have to face competition from the likes of Liverpool and Marseille, the Gunners should do all it takes to land the 25-year old in January or at the end of the season.
