Many a things were expected from a side that dominated the Premier League last season. Alas, they did nothing but disappoint so far this season. From a neutral point of view, being placed 2nd in the Premier League isn’t always such a bad thing. The problem however persists that this side is nothing but a mere shadow of what they were last season. We’re halfway through the season and Manchester City already has 6 draws and 2 defeats under their belt, which is hardly convincing. Moreover, being 7 points behind their neighbors at the top isn’t really helping their cause. It’s about time the titleholders pulled up their socks or they risk losing their coveted crown.
Coming off the heels of a defeat to Sunderland, Man City would be eager to get back on track against Norwich City. The men to watch out for from Manchester City would certainly be Carlos Tevez who has notched up 7 goals this season in the premier league and of course Yaya Toure and David Silva who have been instrumental in garnering many of City’s wins this season. However, with Tevez out with an illness, Mancini will have to turn to Edin Dzeko and Aguero to lead the attack this week. The only other injury concerns that Mancini has to face would be that of Maicon, Richards and Kolarov. Mario Balotelli is another player who is out of this fixture, again, due to illness.
Mancini would probably like to take control of this game right from the start. However, a strong Norwich side could possibly prevent him from doing so. Of the many promising talents from this side, the names of Robert Snodgrass, Anthony Pilkington and Grant Holt would certainly ring a few bells. As the stats clearly depict, Snodgrass has been the key player for Norwich this season leading the attack channel for them. Norwich’s defense too has been nothing short of disciplined so far this season.
However, with recent close losses against Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion, they would certainly look to strike a chord this game and try to get away from this game with a point at least. With City looking to control the game, Norwich would probably look to hold a good defensive line and counter at the right time during the match up. This fixture can go either way, however, City look more poised to be winning this.
Prediction : Norwich City 1 – 2 Manchester City
