Norwich City snapping up this 25-year-old Bayern starlet would add a different dimension to their attack next season

Norwich City Opinion: Why the Canaries should sign Kwasi Okyere Wriedt

According to a report from the Eastern Daily Press, newly-promoted Norwich City are interested in Bayern Munich striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt.

Wriedt, 25, enjoyed a fantastic season with Bayern’s second team as he scored 24 goals in 34 games. He was one of the stars of the show as Bayern’s youngsters won Regionalliga Bayern in the fourth tier of German football, winning the division’s golden boot.

The Ghana international has just a year left on his contract and while Bayern want to extend his deal and are reluctant to lose him, Norwich City should go all out to sign Wriedt.

Norwich finished on top of the Championship last season and manager Daniel Farke has made some additions to his squad with a hope that the new players gel in quickly and make an instant impact when the 2019/20 Premier League season commences.

The Canaries have bolstered their forward line with the signings of Callum Robinson and Josip Drmic, who are expected to compete with Teemu Pukki for a place in the starting XI.

However, Farke’s side clearly need more than Robinson and Drmic if they are to survive in the Premier League next term and thus, a move for Kwasi Okyere Wriedt would make so much sense.

Wriedt has scored heavily for Bayern’s second team and could be the player to add some attacking quality to the Canaries squad. Farke could certainly benefit from adding to their options in the attack, as they can’t rely on Teemu Pukki to keep them in the top-flight next season.

Wriedt would fancy his chance of challenging the Finland international for his starting spot at Carrow Road.

Verdict

The Ghanaian is a sublime talent and at the age of 25, isn’t getting any younger, so he could be looking for the kind of move that would jumpstart his career.

Wriedt wants to play regular first-team football and he simply isn’t going to get that at Bayern under Niko Kovac, so perhaps a move to Norwich would be better for him.
