No Ramsey, no problem – Emery can keep the Arsenal midfield ticking by splashing £50m+ on this Serie A starlet

Why Arsenal should definitely make a move for Nicolo Barella

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Football.London), Arsenal have now been linked with a move for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella. The Italian has attracted interest from a number of clubs as he has been impressive for the Serie A outfit over the last two seasons.

The report suggests that he could cost the Gunners or any suitors more than £50million. Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be interested in signing the player but Arsenal have emerged as the latest target to land his signature. (Football.London)

Barella impressed for his country recently as well and has been making the headlines in the Serie A. The Gunners are also set to lose Aaron Ramsey after the club decided to part ways with the Welshman.

They are certainly going to need someone to take his place and Barella seems to be a good fit for this Arsenal side under Unai Emery. The 21-year-old possesses the drive and determination that Emery likes in his players.

He is often regarded as a central attacking midfielder but the youngster is also capable of playing as a central midfielder. He is very good at dictating the play in the middle of the park and has a respectable range of passing.

The Italian will definitely flourish alongside former Serie A star Lucas Torreira, who has also made a massive impact since coming in. With Torreira doing most of the defensive work, Barella can concentrate on picking the passes and ensuring the smooth movement of the ball in the midfield.

The 21-year-old is very good when a team transitions from the defence to the attack and his supply will be vital in the final third. He has averaged a pass success rate of 80.6% in the Serie A this season, creating a number of chances going forward.

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette will definitely thrive off his supply in the final third. Using their pace, Barella will be able to feed the ball in behind the defenders, which the strikers should be able to comfortably finish.

He is also a superb dead-ball specialist and hence, Emery will have a new set-piece taker in his team as well. Barella is capable of scoring from long range and sending superb deliveries into the box.
