No Mendy, no problem – 3 ideal FPL replacements for the injured Man City star including £4.8m Everton ace

Three ideal Fantasy Premier League replacements for the injured Benjamin Mendy

Fantasy Premier League managers will be left frustrated after Benjamin Mendy personally announced via Instagram that he would not be available for the next few weeks. Mendy has been an explosive source of points for the champions this season but it’s his injury record that often troubles managers.

Fortunately, his injury has come during the international break, giving managers enough time to bring in an able replacement at the back. Mendy is a premium-priced defender, which means a ton of managers will be able to recoup some of the money they spent.

Here we take a look at three ideal options that managers should consider bringing in before the Frenchman’s value drops. He has already been transferred out by more than 70,000 managers just in a day’s time.

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

The Liverpool full-back has been a far more superior presence down the left flank than Benjamin Mendy. He has rarely been benched after emerging as a favourite under Klopp and the Scottish international has also provided attacking returns.

Andrew Robertson

Priced at £6.4million, Robertson will be a straight swap for the Frenchman. The Scot provided an assist, a clean sheet and all 3 bonus points in Liverpool’s win over Fulham last weekend.

He has already picked up a total of 12 bonus points this season, which means whenever Robertson delivers, he tends to take home all three points.

Liverpool are also proving to be a rigid side at the back this season, conceding the same amount of goals as Manchester City. Robertson is a far more reliable option at the back.

Marcos Alonso (Chelsea)

Marcos Alonso is the top-scoring player in the game at the moment. That’s right, he has scored the most points after 12 games of the season. Priced at a whopping £7.1million, he has provided returns in all of his last three games.

Two assists and one clean sheet in that time have seen the Spaniard plummet to the top of the fantasy rankings. Though he is highly priced in the game, Alonso always tends to deliver in some way or another. An interesting statistic also shows that the Chelsea defender is a much bigger threat under Sarri this season.

Lucas Digne (Everton)

Digne has started to emerge as a budget option for many managers. Some may wonder why, given that he is yet to deliver big returns this season but its his underlying statistics that will convince you.

He has created a total of 11 chances in the last three weeks, which is the most by any defender in that period.

The former Barcelona defender has also supplied 11 successful crosses in that time, which is also the most by any defender. This means he has been unfortunate not to pick up an assist.

Marco Silva has also used the full-back for taking corners this season. Priced at just £4.8million, managers should definitely consider bringing him in.
